There is a reason why teachers are leaving the profession at alarming rates--we do a poor job taking care of them. Teachers are underpaid, overworked, under-appreciated, overwhelmed, under attack, and over it! So they are leaving. 

We have to do a better job taking care of our human capital. The question for leadership is - "Who's taking care of the people who take care of our kids?"

Students and staff are faced with the threat of physical harm from external and internal forces. Those threats are trauma triggers to students mental health and emotional well-being. 

We can do more to change the algorithm of how we behave and the culture that exists within our schools.

The stakeholders will not tolerate another 20 million dollar budget. There must be sound policies and practices in place that guard against waste, mis-management, and yes even fraud.

I believe we can do better than a "C" rating within the state's financial structure. We owe it to the taxpayers.

• I believe DeSoto Independent School District can and will be the premier district in North Texas.
• I believe we can and will support our superintendent in delivering a stellar Triple A Experience (Academics, Arts, and Athletics).

• I believe we can and will have a dynamic, collaborative Team of 8 who responds to the vision and values of the community.
• I believe we can and will achieve the CCMR, Early Numeracy, Early Literacy, and Individual Growth goals that were put in place.
